After more than three decades of leadership, championship success, and dedication to Raider Nation, Bryan Baucom has announced his retirement as Head Softball Coach at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
Baucom’s head coaching journey at STA began in 1995, and over 31 seasons he built Raider Softball into one of the most respected programs in Florida. His career record of 666 wins, 199 losses, and 2 ties amounts to a winning percentage of .769 (77%). His success is a testament to his consistency, passion, and commitment to excellence.
Under his guidance, the Raiders achieved:
- 4 State Championships (2002, 2003, 2013, 2014)
- 11 Final Four appearances (1995, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2025)
- 24 District Titles
His coaching excellence has been recognized across the state. In 2022, he was inducted into the FACA Hall of Fame. Baucom was also a four-time FACA/Dairy Farmers Coach of the Year and was frequently selected as an All-Star Coach.
The 2025 season provided a fitting final chapter, as Baucom guided STA back to the State Final Four for the first time since 2017. Appropriately, he was also named the Miami Herald’s Co-Softball Coach of the Year.
As he retires, the Raider community celebrates not only the banners and accolades, but also the countless lives Coach Baucom has touched during his over 30 years of coaching softball. His era of leadership has left an indelible mark on St. Thomas Aquinas Athletics.
Congratulations, Coach Baucom — and thank you for everything.
The future of Raider Softball remains bright. A new head coach will be announced soon, bringing with them a strong support staff dedicated to continuing the proud tradition of excellence that Coach Baucom established.
