St. Thomas Aquinas High School proudly announces the hiring of Lonny Shapiro as its new Head Softball Coach. A championship-winning leader with more than two decades of experience, Shapiro brings a proven track record of success and program-building expertise to Raider Nation.
Over his career coaching at high schools, Shapiro guided his teams to seven District Championships, four Regional Championships, five State Final Four appearances, two State Finals, and one State Runner-Up finish. Along the way, he earned recognition as the 2012 Sun Sentinel Softball Coach of the Year and the 2013 Miami Herald Large School Coach of the Year.
Shapiro now takes the reins of Raider Softball following the retirement of legendary coach Bryan Baucom. Joining him will be a stellar support staff, including Monique Rhoden, STA Alumni; Chip Volke, STA Alumni; and Sean Gilmartin, all of whom bring experience, energy, and a commitment to developing high-caliber student-athletes.
With Coach Shapiro leading the program, Raider Softball looks forward to continuing its proud tradition of excellence and a future filled with championship aspirations.
