When you have a season like St. Thomas Aquinas boys basketball did this year, you can expect some serious recognition.
Over the weekend, the Sun Sentinel recognized a number of Raiders for their contributions to this year’s state championship team.
Sophomores Nate Accius and KJ Sandi, and junior Zane Elliot, were named as Honorable Mention All-County.
Sophomore CJ Westbrook, who averaged a team-high 17.5 points per game, was named First Team All-County.
Junior DJ Sandi, who led 6A schools with 7.5 assists per game, was named First Team All-County.
Senior Dwayne Wimbley Jr. was named the Broward 7A-5A Boys Basketball Player of the Year. Wimbley Jr. was the focal point of the Raiders victory in the state championship.
Finally, head coach Julius Sandi was named the Coach of the Year. Sandi led STA to their best season in team history, winning their second state championship and finishing as a consensus top-20 team in the nation.
Congratulations to all of the Raiders!
