Last week, the Raiders volleyball and football teams combined for a sparkling 4-0 undefeated week as both squads round into form before postseason play begins.
The Raiders varsity volleyball team, the defending state champions, picked up two convincing victories. On Tuesday, the team traveled to Venice High School and won three sets to one. On Thursday, the Lady Raiders hosted senior night as they honored six of their graduating seniors. After a heartfelt ceremony, they capped off the evening with another three sets to one victory. The squad, led by legendary head coach Lisa Zielinski, play in the “Big 8” tournament this week in Pompano Beach.
STA’s success translated from the court to the gridiron. On Wednesday, the JV football team continued their outstanding season as they defeated Cardinal Gibbons 30-0. The Raiders defense proved to be suffocating once again as they continued their perfect season at home.
To cap off the week, the varsity football team welcomed Hollywood Hills to Brian Piccolo Stadium at Simmons Family Field. The Raiders, led by senior quarterback Andrew Indorf, came out fast and furious. The Raiders led 49-0 at the end of the first quarter and coasted to a 64-0 victory. The 9th ranked team in the country, according to MaxPreps, travels to Pitbull Stadium on the campus of Florida International University to play Chaminade-Madonna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11th.
