Coach Wojtas grew up in a “Rowing Family” with six siblings who all rowed and attended college on rowing scholarships. She rowed at Holy Spirit High School in South Jersey and then at Florida Institute of Technology, competing in events like the Head of the Charles, Head of the Hooch, Dad Vails, and SIRAs. She was elected Team Captain by her peers in both high school and college.
After college, Coach Wojtas rowed on Boathouse Row in Philadelphia while working as an accountant. In 1992, she moved to Fort Lauderdale, got married, and raised two daughters, both STA alumnae. When her daughters grew older, she returned to rowing as a Master Rower, earning medals at various regattas, including US Masters Nationals and World Masters.
Some STA girls asked Coach Wojtas to teach them to row, sparking the creation of the STA Rowing Team. Under her leadership, the STA Girls have medaled at every state regatta, including three state championships, regional medals, and a silver medal at Nationals in 2023, their first time at Nationals.
Coach Wojtas credits the team’s success to the hardworking athletes and dedicated coaches. She believes rowing requires hard work, dedication, discipline, and sacrifice, leading by example and putting 100% into the team. She views rowing as an excellent sport that builds character and sets participants up for a successful future.
