The St. Thomas Aquinas High School Girls Rowing Team delivered an outstanding performance this past weekend at the Sculling State Championships in Sarasota, earning a second-place overall finish among 18 competing schools.
Highlighting the regatta were two state championship performances. The Lightweight Quad of Maite Thorndike, Maite Sierra, Olivia Hickey, and Melina Lopez captured first place in their event, while the Junior Quad of Gianna Attento, Alana Fernandes, Lucia Magilligan, and Grace Miner also secured a first-place finish. Both crews earned Scholastic Trophies for their victories.
The Raiders’ strong showing reflects the program’s depth, determination, and continued growth at the state level.
St. Thomas Aquinas now turns its focus to the upcoming Sweep State Championships, where the team looks to build on this momentum.
