The St. Thomas Aquinas girls volleyball team is heading back to familiar territory — the State Semifinals — after another commanding postseason run that continues to showcase the Raiders’ championship pedigree.
Behind veteran leadership, relentless defense, and a finely tuned attack, Aquinas has powered through the playoffs without dropping a single set. The Raiders opened with a 3-0 sweep over Coral Park, followed by another dominant 3-0 victory against Mater Academy Charter. In the regional final, they overwhelmed West Boca Raton in straight sets to punch their ticket to the Final Four.
Now sitting at 26-4 on the season, the Raiders have been nearly unstoppable since mid-September — winning every match since September 13 and losing only one set in that span. Their consistency and poise under pressure have set the tone for a team determined to chase its third consecutive state championship.
Senior middle blocker Isabella Sangha has been a steady force at the net, leading the team in kills and blocks while setting the tone for Aquinas’ front-line defense. Adriana Medrano continues to anchor the back row with precision passing and tough digs, while setter Hailey Trebbien orchestrates the offense with confidence and has added a strong serving presence throughout the postseason.
Head Coach Lisa Zielinski has once again guided her program with the same mix of discipline and energy that has defined Aquinas volleyball for decades. Under her leadership, the Raiders have built not only a culture of winning, but one rooted in teamwork, resilience, and relentless preparation.
With the semifinals set for November 6 and 8, the focus now turns to execution and composure on the state’s biggest stage. Every serve, every rally, and every defensive stand will matter as the Raiders look to extend their remarkable postseason streak and continue their pursuit of another state crown.
The road to three straight titles rolls on — and St. Thomas Aquinas is right where it belongs: among Florida’s best, ready for the next challenge.
