St. Thomas Aquinas High School has once again earned recognition as one of the premier athletic programs in the country. In its annual rankings of the best overall high school athletic programs for the 2024-2025 school year, MaxPreps placed the Raiders at No. 2 in the nation.
According to MaxPreps, the rankings are determined by an algorithm that factors in state championships, state runner-up finishes, and placement in national rankings. This comprehensive approach highlights schools that consistently excel across multiple sports on both the state and national stage.
The 2024-2025 school year was nothing short of historic for Aquinas Athletics. The Raiders captured five team state championships:
- Football – Sixth consecutive state title, a Florida state record.
- Girls’ Volleyball – Eighth overall, and second straight.
- Boys’ Basketball – First since 2001.
- Baseball – First since 2018.
- Boys’ Lacrosse – Fourth in school history.
These accomplishments reflect the depth and talent across the program, with teams excelling in both long-established powerhouse sports and programs making historic returns to championship form.
While the official rankings list the Raiders at No. 2, the pride within the STA community remains unwavering — and many would say we’ll always see ourselves as No. 1.
