The St. Thomas Aquinas basketball teams took care of business on Wednesday night, with both teams securing blowout victories over the Cardinal-Gibbons Chiefs.
In the first game, the girls dominated from the opening tip. They lead 48-6 at halftime and cruised to a comfortable 61-21 victory. Senior Nyla McFadden, senior Jaeyln Cardoza and freshman London Thomas all scored in double digits.
In the second game, the boys team came out with the same level of intensity and passion. In front of a raucous crowd, the Raiders got out to a red hot start from the outside. They led 26-16 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, the defense tightened up and they allowed just four points.
Much like the girls, they kept the momentum and going and finished with a 75-39 triumph. After the game, the team was rewarded with the victory trophy of the Knights of Columbus Basketball Challenge. The trophy is given annually to the winner of the matchup.
The girls team moved to 4-2 with the win while the boys improved to 4-1.
