Brian Piccolo is one of the most legendary alumnus in the history of STA. Piccolo was a standout athlete, especially on the gridiron, which propelled him to a college career with Wake Forest and time in the NFL with the Chicago Bears. Piccolo was on his way to an excellent NFL career before it was cut short by cancer. He passed away at the young age of 26. His bravery and friendship with teammate Gale Sayers became legendary, celebrated in the popular film Brian’s Song. Today, STA’s main stadium, Brian Piccolo Memorial Stadium, honors his legacy, serving as a constant reminder of his Raider spirit and the resilience and character he showed. His story continues to inspire STA students and faculty members to this day.
