It was a magical night at St. Thomas Aquinas on Tue., Feb 17 as both the girls and boys soccer teams booked their ticket to the FHSAA State Semifinals. The girls defeated Cooper City 5-0 to head back to states for the second consecutive year while the boys conquered Monarch 2-0 (OT) to advance for the first time in three years.
The girls head into the State Semifinals at 21-2-1 and are the no.2 seed. They face the no.3 seed Viera, who they defeated 4-1 earlier this year, at Spec Martin Stadium in Deland, Fla. at 10:00 a.m. on Mon., Feb 23. The boys also earned the no.2 seed and face Sunlake on the same day at 4:00 p.m.
The boys are looking for the program’s sixth state championship, and first since 2011, while the girls are looking for the program’s 16th state crown, and first since 2017.
