The St. Thomas Aquinas Football Team traveled across the Atlantic for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in London — and came home with a victory to remember.
In front of an international crowd at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Raiders defeated the NFL Academy 41–38 in a thrilling back-and-forth matchup that showcased elite competition and global sportsmanship. Following the game, both teams came together on the field, sharing mutual respect and forming connections that extended beyond the scoreboard.
While the game was the highlight, the Raiders made the most of their time in the United Kingdom. The team visited iconic landmarks such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Tower of London, and Buckingham Palace, learning about the city’s rich history and culture. The trip also included a community outreach event at Aylward Academy, where players hosted a youth football clinic for local middle school students — an experience that inspired both the Raiders and the young athletes they met.
The team also practiced at Cheshunt FC’s training complex, preparing for the international matchup with focus and purpose, and attended the Vikings vs. Browns NFL game at Tottenham Stadium earlier in the week — getting a taste of professional football in one of the world’s premier venues.
The week in London was more than just a football trip. It was an opportunity for growth, connection, and representing Raider Pride on a global stage.
Final Score: St. Thomas Aquinas 41, NFL Academy 38.
