St. Thomas Aquinas celebrated Homecoming in style on Friday night, delivering a commanding 45-6 win over Western High School to make it three straight victories for the Raiders. The home crowd witnessed not just a dominant performance on the field, but also an unforgettable halftime drone show that added extra excitement to a memorable night.
From the opening kickoff, STA set the tone and built a 31-0 halftime lead, controlling all phases of the game from start to finish. Western managed only a field goal before halftime and another score late, but the Raiders’ offense and defense never allowed momentum to shift. Quarterback Mason Mallory threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns on just 13 attempts, finding Julius Jones for 146 receiving yards and all three scores through the air. Kayin Liddie provided balance in the run game with 65 rushing yards and a touchdown, helping the Raiders keep the Wildcats off balance throughout the contest.
On the defensive side, STA limited Western to just 2.6 yards per carry. Wyatt Smith led the way up front, recording a season-high in tackles and finishing with three sacks to anchor a defense that consistently pressured the Wildcats.
The Homecoming win not only showcased the talent and depth of this year’s squad but also highlighted the tradition and community of Raider football, capped by a halftime drone show that lit up the sky above Brian Piccolo Memorial Stadium.
The victory marked the Raiders’ third in a row as they continue to build momentum heading into the heart of the season. Up next, St. Thomas Aquinas travels to face McArthur on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
