The St. Thomas Aquinas girls basketball team entered their senior night on a three game winning streak. At the end of the night, they were able to successfully celebrate their four seniors and also leave with a thrilling, momentum-building comeback victory.
The Raiders faced a near double-digit fourth quarter deficit vs the visiting Blanche Ely Tigers. Despite the adversity, the team never wavered. The momentum turned after STA employed a full-court press, as the girls forced the Tigers into turnovers that led to baskets on the other end.
Senior Jaelyn Cardoza hit a big three pointer with under two minutes left to stretch the lead to five and the Raiders would not look back. On a night where Cardoza, Sara Lee Blair, Nyla McFadden and Sayaniz Zaldivar were honored for their contributions to the program, the whole team delivered on the court.
The Raiders have four regular season games remaining before they start the postseason as they look for their fifth consecutive state championship.
