The St. Thomas Aquinas boys basketball team had seen a lot during their 13 game winning streak. On Tuesday night, they saw something a little different.
Facing overtime for the first time of the year, while missing two key players, the Raiders came away with a gusty 79-77 victory over Blanche Ely in double overtime. With the win, STA extended their winning streak to 14 games and moved to 15-1 overall on the season.
Both teams had numerous chances to win the game in regulation and the end of the first overtime, with neither squad able to deliver the final blow. In the second overtime, with both teams reaching the point of exhaustion, STA found a way to get it done.
Junior guard Drake (DJ) Sandi led the way with 20 points as four Raiders scored in double figures.
The team returns home on Jan. 24th for the Steve Strand Classic.
