Both the boys and girls soccer teams at St. Thomas Aquinas have gotten off to terrific starts to their seasons.
The girls, directed by head coaches Brian Hantak and Floyd Tuttle, could not have gotten off to a better start. They are undefeated with a 5-0 record. And not only have they won every game, they have yet to concede a goal all season. Their goal differential is +22 and three of their five wins have come by four or more goals.
Sophomore Sophie Barnes has been lethal in front of net, having already scored nine goals on the year, along with three assists. Camryn McEwen has been the goalkeeper for every STA shutout.
The boys team has caught their stride in recent days. After starting the year with competitive losses at Boca Raton (1-2) and vs Columbus (1-2) in two of their first four games, they have won their last three games. In that span, they have maintained three consecutive shutouts and have a goal differential of +7.
The Raiders have used a balanced attack, with twelve different players finding the back of the net at least once.
